WHAT ARE ZINES?

Picture
Zine is short for fan-zine, a self-made, self-published booklet written for a variety of topics. Fanzines initially came out to spread news and opinions on punk, but they have since evolved to cover topics such as comics, narratives, art, and of course, the occult.

I chose to publish in zine format because I enjoy writing, art, and designing at the same time. From my years as a Lead Design Editor for a newspaper, I learned how to balance fonts, images, and text in zines. I write, illustrate, print, and bind every single zine myself.

I keep my zines as affordable as possible, so that everyone can have a chance to learn.

Death Witchcraft Volumes 1 & 2.

Picture
Death Witchcraft: Volume 1 provides a stepping stone for those who want to get into death witchcraft. Along with defining what the practice is, Volume 1 covers graveyard etiquette, spirit communication exercises, and notes for overcoming one's fear of death. In the back, you will find a list of herbs, stones, oils, and tools related to death witchcraft, and what you can use each of them for.

Death Witchcraft: Volume 2 builds upon the topics addressed in Volume 1. This sequel explains how to clean, handle, and use bones in death witchcraft. On top of that, the zine lists types of spirits of the dead you can work with, as well as various necromancy (divination) techniques and how to perform them. In the back, you'll find master lists of altar items, offerings for the dead, and recommended reading.

Practical Paganism

Picture
Practical Paganism wasn't written for any one Pagan religion specifically. Rather, it illustrates techniques and practices that any Pagan can incorporate into a busy life. By mixing modern and traditional, the zine recommends actions of worship that are fun, fruitful, and fit snugly into everyday life.

I wrote Practical Paganism while I was in a worship slump. I hadn't practiced my religion for months and could barely scrape together enough motivation to begin again. If you find yourself in a similar rut, I highly recommend picking up this work. Despite being my most recent zine, it has quickly become a Best-Seller.

Pleading to Hades

Picture
Of all of my publications, Pleading to Hades took the longest to compose after seven years of experimental writing. The zine chronicles my relationship with Hades, as well as information on how to worship Him. Unlike my other publications, Pleading to Hades focuses less on instruction and more on narrative and artistic expression.

While polishing this zine, I grappled with formatting options for a long time. Combining poetry with narration with script didn't seem to fit well into anything. Eventually, I realized that I could use my Tumblr followers' questions as guidance, as I have behind the scenes of my other zines. Although I had already answered their asks previously, I re-answered the most frequently asked questions about Hades in this zine.

Witchcraft Mini-Zines

Picture
Mini-zines are pocket-sized booklets that you can fit into your purse, wallet, pocket, or notebook. These bit-sized sources of information are meant to be taken anywhere. So far, I have published mini-zines about Moons in Magic, Magical Salt Recipes, Water magic, Study Spells, and Details for the Dorm Witch. At tabling events, and in occasional orders, I'll add my narrative mini-zine, Kids on Carpets.

The mini-zines come in two separate packs, one general pack (linked below) and a student witchcraft pack. You can buy all of them, or just one or two. If you can't decide which mini-zines you want, consider looking into the Mini-Zine Grab Bag, where I send you four random mini-zines including one of your choice.
